On the 24th and 25th January 2018, within the framework of the Bulgarian presidency, the Ministry of Youth and Sports organised in Sofia a conference on the importance of education and investigation for preventing doping in grassroots sport.

EuropeActive has attended today, January 25 2018, the 1st European Education Summit, dedicated to "laying the foundation of the European Education Area: for an innovative, inclusive and values based education". The summit has been hosted by Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.

Bulgaria will hold the presidency of the Council of the EU from 1st January to 30th June 2018.  The main priorities for the rotating Presidency are: young people, security and stability, the Western Balkans and eventually digital economy and skills for the future.

The 25th May is the day when the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will enter into force.

 

The recent letter from Antonio Tajani, the President of the European Parliament, has added weight and encouragement for EuropeActive to continue along its pathway to develop the systems and processes to make sure that fitness professionals have the future skills and qualifications to support the growth of the sector.

On Tuesday 24th October, the European Commission adopted its 2018 Work Programme, with priorities and concrete actions to achieve before the end of its mandate in 2019. The document presents as well a series of forward-looking initiatives for the future of Europe.

After presenting the SIQAF project to the Belgian and Slovenian national authorities, EuropeActive’s director of programmes, Cliff Collins and EREPS’s Director Professional Standards Committee, Julian Berriman met the Greek government today to discuss referencing of European qualifications with the Greek Government.
