New report published on The contribution of sport to the employability of young people

EuropeActive attended on December 12, 2017 the event “Team Up for NEETs – Youth, Sport and Employability in the 2020 strategy”. The event was organised by the international association streetfootballworld and was attended by project partners of the team up project, representatives from sport and physical activity organisations and the European Commission.

Alongside the presentation of the project outcomes, Prof. Marc Theeboom from Vrije Universiteit Brussel presented the outcomes of the study "The Contribution of Sport to the Employability of Young People in the Context of the Europe 2020 Strategy". The study was support by streetfootballworld, ENGSO youth and VDAB and commissioned by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Union to investigate sport’s contribution to the employability of young people in the context of the Europe 2020 strategy.

Fitness is the largest participant sport. The sector serves nearly 60 million consumers, generates 26.6 billion Euro in revenues, employs 650,000 people, and consists of 59,055 facilities.
