European Week of Sport: Conferences & Meetings

The European Week of Sports is very intense for everyone. While Europeans are enjoying fitness activities, EuropeActive EU affairs team is participating meetings and conferences including:

  • The House of Sport Annual Conference in Brussels Town Hall (25.9.17) with a focus this year on “Sport innovation for healthy lifestyle”.
  • The Sport Intergroup meeting in the European Parliament (26.9 17) on the topic of “Sport, Health and Nutrition challenges and opportunities for Europe”. Sir Graham Watson, President of EuropeActive reminded the importance of the #BEACTIVE Week – as the European Week of Sport celebrates physical activity in all its forms! – and called for a broader campaign to make sure the #BEACTIVE message will be used all year long.
  • The ENGSO Sport conference on the power of grassroots sports (27.9.17) to include, empower, integrate and tackle radicalisation.
  • The “Active Schools, Active Kids” (29.09.17) is a conference with the presentation of the first panorama on school sport in the European Union.

EuropeActive is putting all effort to improve and develop in order to make more people, more active, more often.

The second meeting of the European Commission Expert Group “Skills and Human Resources Development in Sport” took place in Split 11-12 July.

Fitness is the largest participant sport. The sector serves nearly 60 million consumers, generates 26.6 billion Euro in revenues, employs 650,000 people, and consists of 59,055 facilities.
