The EU Sport Forum 2018 took place this year in Sofia, Bulgaria under the Bulgarian Presidency and was dedicated to “Sport in Europe, investing for the future generation". This high-level 2-day event brought together representatives from the European Commission and the European Parliament, the member states, the Olympic movement, the civil society organisations and further stakeholders. The event was opened by Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Eudcation, Culture, Youth and Sport. During panel discussions and workshops the speakers and the audience reflected on topics such as sustainable sport, sport and promoting international cooperation, and the EU Work Plan for Sport 2017-2020.

EuropeActive’s president Sir Graham Watson followed-up in his panel discussion on the Tartu Call for Healthy lifestyles and underlined the need for a coordinated approach across the participating DGs: EAC, SANTE and AGRI. His suggestion is a PACT – a Physical Activity Coordination Team - to work across the Commission to ensure that every policy decision, every recommendation, every draft Directive from every Directorate includes proper consideration of the impact of the measure on healthy lifestyles.
